Feel free to post your own study tips on this page. For your amusement you might want to see the page I put together called "Test Results" after one test went particularly poorly.

Perhaps the flash cards will help. Other possibile helps? Here are some tips I could think of--please feel free to edit these and add to them! ~Kevin

  • I think contributing regularly to the wiki can be helpful. Unless you have been working with someone else under a different name, I see that your contributions were on Feb. 27 for an hour or so and yesterday for about half an hour. I would suggest contributing a few times per week, or at least once per week.
  • Doing more studying will not necessarily help. If there are things you miss the first time, it is possible you will miss them again and again. Sometimes rereading or watching a lecture over again can give a false sense of security. Instead of just going over the material again, try recreating it—reorganize it, or put it into your own words just from the headings (that’s part of why I am doing the wiki—I hope people will process information and reorganize it). Look for gaps in your knowledge or understanding, and try to fill them. Spend less time on the areas where you are strongest. Find ways to connect concepts from multiple chapters. Be very active in the learning process.
  • Present the material to others. It sure helps me learn the material better when I know I have to teach it in a day (or an hour!)
  • Look at what the learning pros suggest. USU has an Academic Resource Center with a lot of good skills and advice on studying, test taking, etc. Also, talk to Provo College about resources they may have to help. They want you to succeed!
  • Take the VARK survey and think about your own learning style. Several people in the class are kinesthetic learners, which caught me by surprise but makes total sense. How can we make the class more hands-on to assist those K learners?
  • Constantly analyze how you learn best. Find what works for you in different situations. If other classes are going better than this one, why? Feel free to email suggestions to me (Kevin) and I will try to improve.
  • Make SMART study goals. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

I'm not quite sure what to study. I studied what I thought to be the most important material for the last two tests and haven't done as well as I would like. If anyone has done well and has some good tips I would appreciate it. Thanks
